Roller blinds are a popular window covering choice for homes, offices and other indoor spaces.
Why do Lex Blinds clients choose roller blinds? Because of their functionality, convenient control, exceptionally fine fabrics, and irreplaceable practicality.
Our blinds are made from premium quality, sturdy and specially treated material which guarantees durability, and requires very little maintenance.
There are times however when blinds may become dirty - and may need a little attention. But don’t fret - because we have all the information you need to help make your blinds look as good as new!
DUST AND DIRT
Roller blind fabrics are specially impregnated and have anti-static properties which together minimise the amount of dirt and dust they collect. However, in exceptional cases (for example, after repair works) you may need to clean them. Simply use a feather brush or a soft cloth to get rid of the dirt.
If a lot of dust or dirt regularly enters through the windows, we recommend vacuuming the blind fabric using a soft, bristle-covered attachment once a month. Make sure the power of the vacuum cleaner is set to the minimum, and do it really carefully while holding the fabric. It’s important to follow these instructions to protect your window treatments from any damage.
INSECT STAINS
Along with everyday dirt, during the warm season, people often encounter another problem - dark marks left by flies and other insects.
You can easily eliminate these with the help of a vacuum cleaner or by softly cleaning the fabric with a dry sponge, using its rough side. The sponge will help you remove all manner of stains from dry dirt to sand!
It’s important to make sure the fabrics are impregnated a few times to become more resistant to dirt. To avoid damaging the protective layer of the fabric, avoid rubbing it too hard.
Remember - you should never wash the fabric. Contact with water will damage it permanently.
GREASE AND MOULD
Roller blinds are a particularly popular choice for kitchens, children’s rooms, and bathrooms.
However, these particular spaces may sometimes lead to grease or even mould on the blinds. Don’t worry - because you can eliminate grease and finger stains by gently cleaning the surface with a damp cloth.
Bear in mind that this method only temporarily eliminates traces of mould, and won’t get rid of the accumulating bacteria dangerous to people’s health. Mould tends to spread rapidly - so it may be wise to think about changing the fabric.
It’s important to remember that clothes should not be too wet, just a little damp (make sure you use cold water). You should never use anything hot to dry the fabric (e.g., an iron).
Never use bleach or special concentrated detergents as this will almost certainly destroy the protective properties of the fabric and lead to changes in colour.
